I think the most lovely aspect of the Knouge pairing is how kinda atypical it seems. Like, it’s Rouge who comes on strong the first time she meets Knuckles while he flails about in a fit of embarrassment. So often in cartoons especially, the guy sees a pretty chica with CLOSE UP SLOW MO SPARKLE VIEW and it takes three seasons for him to finally woo her heart. He does this by endearing himself to her and “taming the shrew” if you will.
AND YET HERE IS ROUGE, just so SURE OF HERSELF, she right off the bat (pun of course intended) is all “dang boy is God missing an angel because you look heavenly” and since Knuckles is so clumsy around girls, he just gets SO SCARED OF HER WILES AND CHARM AND LOOKS ALL ROLLED UP INTO A PACKAGE OF EXTREME FEMININITY.
And it’s a waiting game of Rouge TRYING to get the message across and rad red just cannot bring himself to fight past his hardest obstacle his fists can’t demolish: his social awkwardness.
Painfully cute. These thoughts make this pairing strong to me.
Nice line Rouge. Did you get that from a black and white film, hoping its too old for most people to know where you stole it from?
Ugh Sonic Boom. I beg of you. Please I have my heart sold on an expressive, swashbuckling, karate-chopping, butt-whopping, echidna-swooning, world-traveling bodacious an’ classy bat lady who grows through character development with the rest of the cast.
I know it’s asking for so much but it means so much to me.
I have contributed
This is it. This is the image that hurt my sides and inspired me. I thank you, love!
And absolutely nothing was learned from this experience.
I’m not sure where, but I saw someone make a fantastic fanart of Hawaiian Shadow with a surfboard named Maria. After laughing tremendously for some time, I got enough volition to create…..this origin story for Hawaiian Shadow based on that.
Feel free to feel horrible for laughing at this as I did.
